Macster&Me

"Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbELIevable."- Tom Landry

The South may be my geographical location, but the sideline of a football field or a bench at a racetrack grand stand is where I feel most at home. I'm a Christian. I'm a sports nut. I love to travel. I yearn for a Dealer Trade adventure. I love cities. I hope to call New York City my home someday. I have a thing for Quarter Backs from New York(Giants), Dallas, and Chicago. I have a mild, almost unhealthy, love and admiration for The Brothers Manning I love to vent, in the form of writing. As I fill these posts with sports facts, opinions, and reactions; I hope you're entertained and find them enjoyable. I do occasionally write about non-sport things that occur in my life.

Happy reading!

     The End.

really, already?!it feels like last week we were all excessively celebrating ‘round our TVs and mac screens upon the reports of “FOOTBALL IS BACK!” but here we sit,the day after the GIANTS WON THE SUPERBOWL,with one thing on our mind;what do we do know?!what will we preoccupy ourselves with for the next 6 months.of course i’ll be watching eli tonight on Letterman and some super lucky fans will attend THE parade.lucky people.but after all the hoopla has subsided, then what.for the members of Giants Nation who are reading this(which i thank you so much for doing),i hope i can preoccupy you for a day while i reflect on not just the team, but a certain individual.

growing up in the south, which i still unfortunately am,the NFL isnt exactly top dog in the sports category.NASACR and college football seem to rule the roost around here.while i admit that im kind of a big fan of the whole 43 guys driving like maniacs around a oval at 200mph;the NFL truly is my favorite sport, period.during the NASCAR off season,we southerns dabble in attempting to know and enjoy the NFL.we watch the playoffs and always have a big old superbowl gathering/party.so growing up,i knew a minuscule amount about football.

my earliest memory of the Giants was the amazing and magical 2007 run through the playoffs.i remember watching the ‘NFC ice bowl’ at lambeou thinking the whole time,”these guys are insane.” then i remember watching the underdog Giants and that kid, who’s the really famous guy’s brother, shock and awe the so called ‘perfect team.’ see?!from day 1,the patriots have irked me. :P but my true beginning of becoming a fan of Big Blue didnt really start till the following playoff season, the divisional game between the Giants and the Eagles. (=p) why i started watching that game?!no clue.but im so glad i did.i remember being glued to the screen, non stop cheering for the Giants and that Eli Manning guy.even though they lost,i couldn’t get them out of my mind.i was so impressed with the attitude and passion each person expressed.however,Eli was the one that resinated the most to me.not just because of his looks, but there was something different about him.i just had this feeling that he was special and was a legend waiting to happen.on that day,i became hooked.i was a member of Big Blue Nation.

    fast forward to this season.

i couldnt think of a better person to win the MVP award last night.yes, mario’s catch was pretty amazing.forrest did score the game winning TD and the defense came through when it mattered most.but if you step back and think about HOW they got to those historic moments, eli is the answer.

coming off of that debacle and unhinging end to the 2010 season,i knew the Giants were poised for a comeback run.thus the reason i named this season 2011:Road to Redemption.as you know,we didnt have a very fiery start.losing key players left and right with nothing but rookies or extremely inexperienced players left.but i still bELIeved.we had Eli,we had TC,we had perry,we had some vets,it would be a rocky start, but the Giants will overcome it.and oh how they did.from 7-7 to being crowned World Champions?!?!?!!!resiliency really, really, truly does define this team.i know that it wasnt just eli who took this team under his wing.the 3 blueskteers(cccrrruuuzzz, super mario, and hakeem)went above and beyond.tuck, osi,JPP,canty, antrel, corey, and the entire defense united at the perfect time.having a running game restored was pretty helpful as well.and having coaches never stop bELIeving in the players was signifiant too.but through this roller coaster experience, eli was always there, ready to show up save this team from disaster.

from that dreadful game in january of ‘09,i knew eli was amazing.no matter what the media and bandwagon fans said,i have always had this gut feeling that eli is an amazing QB…..and person.ive always loved and admired that fact that he hasnt changed.he doesnt care what the media and critics think of him.he only cares about being a better quarterback,a better teammate, and always finding a way to help his team achieve higher ambitions.so when he took this young, inexperienced, undisciplined group of guys and turned them into giant threats on the NFL map,i was not surprised at all.when i read that Eli earned superbowl MVP,i want to clap and squeal and even cry.FINALLY!the media, critics, and fans are starting to give eli the credit and respect he deserves.the world is just starting to see that incredible Eli i knew was there all along.

so to wrap this eternally long post up,i would just like to say thank you Eli.thank you for being…..YOU!thank you for being an ELIte teammate and QB.thank you for an incredible season of football i hope i never forget.thank you for being a great role model.i will always love you like a older brother and will always admire and respect you.can wait to start this crazy journey(also known as football season)all over again.

in the words of Deion Sanders:i bELIeve in ELI. :)

have a relaxing, and hopefully preoccupied, offseason Giants players and fans.cant wait for august!!
